Case Study 111

You’ve got a large great room with two walls full of windows and a corner fireplace, but that’s not the first impression buyers will get when they come in here. The room feels disjointed, the seating areas are too far apart, and you are distracted by all the different things around the room. We cleared out extra items and rearranged the furniture to focus on the fireplace. Now you can just imaging sitting and conversing with friends and family in front of a great fire.  Check out the other pictures below!

This is the first room buyers see when they enter the house and it just looks like leftovers from other rooms have been crammed into this small space. We turned it into a welcoming space by clearing the mismatched items (not to mention the tree), removing the dated lace valance, and arranging it as a great sitting room. Now you actually notice the great hardwood floor and wainscoting.  A view from another angle below.

Overwhelming and crowded! A buyer looks at this room and can’t figure out where their furniture could fit, much less how colors would work in this living room. The furniture pieces are too large and the room color too strong. We toned down the wall color with a more neutral sage and brought in furniture that was more to scale. Clutter is gone and now you can see how large the room really is and the great hardwood floors are revealed.

This room just felt uncomfortable. The front door opened directly into the living room and practically into the desk space, and the focus of the room was a small TV. By moving the love seat we created an entry area and we made the focus of the room the great fireplace. The feeling you get when you walk in now is one of warmth and style.01 Living Room Before  Before
